MALDIVES the tropical paradise

In 2017 I spent 10 fantastic days in Dhigufaru Island Resort , a wonderful resort located in Dhigufaruvinagandu in the region of Baa Atoll- UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, reached by a 40-minute seaplane journey from Male. Maldivian staff is really great, everyone was taking care of us with care. But what really made the difference is the island itself, it is absolutely gorgeous.. GORGEOUS ! Little , green, with amazing beaches and the sandbank... I think I got lost in the blue of the ocean. In 2021 for Xmas, I decided to book the You&Me Resort!
2017 and 2021 - 10 Days

What's In This Article

Maldives is well known for its crystalline waters with beautiful shades of blue, swaying palm trees, and sparkling white sand under the limitless blue skies. It is the ultimate dream of luxury and tranquility. … With good weather throughout most of the year, Maldives makes a great choice for an idyllic beach getaway.

The Maldives are hot and sunny all year round, with average temperatures of 23ºC-31ºC. The best weather – and the best time to visit the Maldives – is between November and April. The high season falls between December and March. The monsoon runs from May to October, peaking around June.

We were lucky as we had bad weather just 1 day! (while we were on the ocean with the jet sky!)

The Resort Dhigufaru Island

The level of care from stepping off the plane to take off back home was second to none, and we were blown away by the fabulous people we encountered throughout our trip.

The island itself was completely unspoilt; naturally and tastefully developed and we really felt at one with the surroundings wherever we walked. Reviews have stated the island is small but you literally barely see other guests bar meal times, making your stay feel very secluded and peaceful. I adored the wonderful wildlife everywhere you turned, fascinating hermit crabs wandered around the island and there were many lizards and singing parakeets which were fabulous.

The Water Villa was fantastic , cleaned every day for 2 times (Ibrahim nice guy and very kind) with one of the biggest bathroom I ever seen(2 showers :one of which is outside and you can hear the birds and see the sky + one bath tub).

Large TV with dolby surround – WIFI everywhere!

Patio is so lovely (see the pictures) and the view….amazing!

There is a large reef so you can see fishes and manta ray (also little sharks) from the beach!

About sports/escursions ,we met Shahute and our vacation changed..he is a smart Maldivian guy who showed us with an organized tour ,the beautiful reef in another island close to the resort and thanks to the Shahute suggestion we decided to try the jetski (exciting and so funny) – they have also a list of several activities to do everyday!

Food really fantastic from pasta / spaghetti (I’m Italian) to fish/chicken/vegetable/soup/bread/fresh fruit everething delicious especially the cakes!!!(my favorite was carrot cake).

All the people in the restaurant were wonderful! especially thanks to Bell / Mina and Arjay – we tried to learn Filipino with those smiling people!

Last but not least we want to say THANKS to Rohan.Your kindness and your cocktails made the difference..everynight we were in the poolbar so we could talk with him!

Advice…

1) don’t bother bringing shoes, everywhere you go is soft powdery sand

2) head to pets at home before your visit and buy some parrot treats/toys for the resident blue and yellow macaw who will greatly appreciate this !

3) bring your own sea socks as corals are sharp off the water villas !

4) bring some old clothes/books and leave them at the end of your stay … they will be donated to charity 🙂

The Resort You & Me Cocoon

When entering this beautiful island, you straight away feel your shoulders lower down and the tranquility kicks in; breathtaking beaches and such a warm welcome 🙂

We managed to have the Overwater villa with Pool and sunset view – amazing in all aspects and we felt we never wanted to leave.

From arrival to departure, we felt the staff were always very attentive and thanks to chef Udaya and Azeem, for always being there, asking if anything specific we wanted to plan or anything else they could do and making our stay overall very memorable.

Overall such a cosy and stunning place, small and private (maybe max 180-200 guest or so, so will never feel packed) and it was nice that it’s an adults only island.

BEACH
There are spots all around the island, clear water and white sand, you can choose your preferred spot depending which way the sun is shining from 🙂 in one of the evenings, on Christmas actually- we managed to see the blue plankton in the water! Such an experience and we were so caught up we didn’t even remember to take photos 🙂

FOOD
Lots of variety from different outlets, we always had plenty to choose from, even if Vegans thanks to Chef Udaya: there are lots of variety from different outlets, Italian, Tepanyaki or even the H2O restaurant (remember to book tables in advance as they are all very popular and there are limited seatings).

As we were there during Christmas, they had special arrangements each day and we also encountered a local Maldivian evening; all foods were fresh, lovely and service was great! Thanks again to Chef Udaya and his team, for making great efforts and high quality service and food no matter which restaurant we choose during our stay!

VILLA
Authentic, cosy, and just perfect; Dolphin villa was really amazing! The pool ..simply fantastic!

DIVING
We had 3 dives – we managed to see so many different fishes (no idea their names, maybe one was Nemo :)) turtles, mantas, lion fishes etc. AMAZING. Thanks to RAMI and the team for the efforts in finding the best dive spots and we had such a great time.

ACTIVITIES
Kayaking, Stand up paddle boarding, jet ski as well as other sport activities are there, don’t miss it out and enjoy it in the blue water! We focussed on our kayaking skills, that was equally bad when we left; but hey we had an amazing view while trying to row 🙂

SPA
We managed to have a really nice massage, the spa overlooking the blue water and villas, so tranquil! While having a massage, we could see fishes swimming under us, while looking at the glass floor under the head rest 🙂

ENTERTAINMENT
As we stayed over Christmas, they’ve made extra efforts for a Christmassy feeling and I must say we really appreciated all the efforts and the way they tried making us all having a great time.

STAFF
As already mentioned few places above. Overall the best team we could wish for, everyone was so friendly, attentive, and service was overall way above average; especially many thanks to Chef Udaya, Azeem and Shifna, we really appreciated all the efforts and to make us feel special – hope to come back and see you all soon!
