LOS ANGELES The city of fun

This post is dedicated to Los Angeles - The Entire Plan includes Las Vegas,San Francisco and National Parks.
5 Days

What's In This Article

Day 1 Beverly Hills - Hollywood

I started my USA road trip in Las Vegas, travelling through Utah and Arizona before heading to LA so I already had a car when I arrived (check the 16days itinerary at the end of the Journey) .

It’s quiet hard to rent a car around in LA so take it at the airport when you land. This lets you move through the city with ease, given that Los Angeles has a lot of infrastructure dedicated to cars. There are even sites such as Miles Car Rental that will search for the best prices available and offer many different types of vehicles to suit all of your needs.

LA is just ridiculously huge! After all, Los Angeles has the second-largest metropolitan area in the whole country!

I started my Los Angeles itinerary with a walk down the famous Rodeo Drive, home to designer boutiques. At the very southern end of Rodeo is the Beverly Wilshire, made famous by the movie Pretty Woman.

After Beverly Hills, you can go to The Grove, a famous open-air shopping center (close to LA farmers Market -a fun place to people watch, grab a bite and get some refreshments).

Now, it’s time for the famous Walk of Fame located at 6901 Hollywood Blvd: here you can find so much more than just the name of your favorite celebrities in the sidewalk a whole lot of other iconic sites share this place with the aforementioned stars, great LA icons such as the Chinese theater and its footprints can be found here. There are many parking lots available nearby, so you can comfortably explore the area.

The Hollywood’s sign is visible from many parts of the city but to get the best views, and of course the best photos, you should go to Griffith Park.

Day 2 Beaches : Santa Monica - Venice Beach

Santa Monica is a LA icon where you can relax , swim and explore the Pier (check here the activities and restaurants).

Walk till the 3rd Street Promenade  (13min by walking) a three-block-long pedestrian mall for some shopping!

I suggest to leave the car here and to hire a bike from one of the many stands and ride South Bay Bicycle Trail towards Venice beach. This is the best and easiest experience this playful stretch of coastline.

Walk around the Venice Boardwalk, check out the famous Venice Beach sign, watch muscular people work out at the open-air Venice Muscle Beach 🙂 , the Skate bowl watching skaters perform their tricks and end your day by enjoying one of the best sunsets in the world.

Tocaya was my favourite restaurant with delicious plant based food (highly recommended).

Drive till Malibu if you want a unique sunset and maybe eat in the famous Armani restaurant Nobu!

Day 3 Downtown and Lakers

If you have time, I suggest to visit Downtown that include diverse smaller areas such as Chinatown, Little Tokyo and the Arts District, offering renowned art museums, cutting-edge restaurants & hip bars.

El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument (known as Olvera Street) is the location of the oldest remaining structure in Los Angeles, the Avila Adobe.

The building itself is often overlooked since people are primarily drawn to Olvera Street for its Mexican Marketplace that offers a cleaned-up taste of old Mexico.

It is the home of the LA Plaza de Cultural y Artes museum of Los Angeles history and The Chinese American Museum. Olvera Street is a one-block pedestrian zone across from Union Station, which is served by the Red and Gold Lines of the Metro.

Then, if you love basketball , you should buy a ticket for a Lakers Game (you can also visit the Staple Center if no games) or as alternative take a Tour of Los Angeles City Hall.

Day 4 Universal Studios Hollywood

Here you can find many attractions based on the fictional universes of The Simpsons, Harry Potter, The Walking Dead, and Jurassic Park just to name a few. You need at least 1 entire day:

– check here tickets and the attractions as I’ve been there 10 years ago 🙂
