WHEN TO GO?
Borno is a small town in the mountains with amazing local recipes and wine. You can go there any time of the year as the mountains are beautiful all year around and you can find what to do in Borno in any season. We were there 4days in July, we had sunny and warm days with fresh nights. Perfect temperatures to enjoy outdoor activities and sumptuous dinners. Spring and Autumn are also a good time to visit Borno, especially for hiking and cycling. Winter is skiing time!
For those who want to relax and enjoy the Italian way of life, come and stay longer. If you have a car you can use Borno as a base and do day trips to explore the Val Camonica region where Borno is located.
WHERE TO STAY?
Borno offers cozy mountain hotels, family guesthouses, and beautiful campings. I booked a room at Albergo Venturelli, a charming and cozy 4 star hotel. The rooms are beautiful and comfy, and the bathrooms are huge. Our room was on the 3rd floor with a stunning view of the mountains and the church tower, which made our stay even more special. The owner Alberto is nice and he gives you tips/information of what you can do/see and eat! What I loved about this hotel is the location, in the heart of Borno historical town and some of the best restaurants are just around the corner. And the hotel is PET friendly.

Here quick video from Borno till the first stop Rifugio San Fermo!
When you arrive at Rifugio San Fermo you can enjoy a breathtaking landscape at 360° extending from the Piandineve, through the entire Adamello chain and beyond, and down up to Mount Guglielmo, from Mount Pora up to Re D’Orta, and in the clearest days you can glimpse the Po Valley and the Northern Apennines.
Anytime, you can taste a chopping board of home-made cheeses and cured meats by the always burning fireplace or at the external tables to enjoy the panorama.Â
After a break here, you can continue till Rifugio Laeng or come back.Â
Here another quick video from the Rifugio San Fermo to the Rifugio Laeng, walking over the MONTE ALTISSIMO. During the winter is a ski area : the slopes are at 1700 meters above sea level and there are pistes for beginner to professional skiers.
Following the sent. 82, going up to towards the Monte Altissimo there is a panoramic summit-summit, to wander the gaze and the lens on the Conca di Varicla below and the majestic opposite Pizzo Camino, which stands out in front in all its majestic imposing beauty, as well as towards the Sossino, the Bagozza, the Concarena .
Rifugio Laeng is located at 1760 m.
You can stop here for a local drink and water (weekday in October the refuge is closed).Â
Walking down from the Refuge you will find arrive at Lago di Lova the last stop.Â
This shows just how peaceful this area is. The lake is quiet with only a few fishermen around. Here you can sit down to one of the picnic tables and have a snack or have a walk along the lake. Have time to eat and taste a good food at the Chalet Lova : they serve homemade, traditional food. The hosts are very kind and helpful. You can eat your lunch outside while enjoying the stunning views.

WHERE TO EAT?
Osteria Al Cantini
The beautiful decoration and the menu will surprise you! The restaurant is in an old building and the stone walls create an interesting contrast to the modern decor and kitchen. On the menu traditional Italian food served with a twist, resulting in dishes that you will dream about.
People from all region come to the Osteria Al Cantini for a great meal, so don’t forget to book your table in advance. If you love meat, you must try the Fiorentina and for those who are a bit tired of pasta and pizza, the house hamburger is to die for. Honestly, one of the best burgers we have eat, the patty is thick, juicy, cooked to perfection and served with delicious cheese and bacon. While my husband fell for the burger, the Osteria Al Cantini won my heart by the desert. If you are up for something different try the fig gelato com crescenza cheese. A mix of sweet and savory that is among one of my favorite desserts ever.
