WHY GO
There are many good reasons to visit Cuba: the beach, the culture, the food, the landscape, the music…. But again, untouched by tourists, authentic and with a fascinating history that is being made day by day, if you want to travel to Cuba, do it now before it’s too late and everything will be different.

Should I go to Cuba? Here top things to see
VARADERO
I spent 4 days in Varadero, a beautiful beach town known as the best beach in Cuba. You’ll find gorgeous white sandy beaches that stretch on for 22 km! The palm trees, pineapple drinks and crystal blue water will leave you breathless.
If you will find a cool morning you can walking up and down the beach alternating between relaxing and taking photographs.
There are a couple of things you shouldn’t miss in Varadero:
– Parque Josone: A park in the middle of Varadero filled with birds, vendors, music and camel rides for the kids. Located at the center of town you will most likely drive or walk past it ( 1st Avenue and 56th street).
– Tropicana Matanzas: The newest Tropicana – the most famous cabaret of Cuba. It’s a full scale production with Cuban dance, music and history in dazzling costumes and lighting effects. The show is around 4-5 hours and costs 49CUC.
– Bellamar Caves: One of the oldest tourist attraction in Cuba it has been open to visitors since the 1860’s.
– Scuba Dive Bay of Pigs: You can Scuba many areas along the coast but the Bay of Pigs is quite spectacular.
HAVANA
Havana is a beautiful blend of new and old and, for sure, it’s no ordinary city as a result of a unique combination of colonization processes, migration influxes, plus artistic and political movements, it stands out in Latin America and the world as a very peculiar place.Â
There are a lot of thing to do in Havana:
– GET LOST IN HABANA VIEJA
– LISTEN TO MUSIC AT BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB
– RIDE/ADMIRE THE VINTAGE CARS
– WALK IN HEMINGWAY’S FOOTSTEPS
– VISIT PARTAGAS CIGAR FACTORY
– TRY THE CUBAN RUM
– GET OFF THE MAIN STREET
Cuba had AirBnb before it was famous , called Casa Particulars.
The Cuban government allows locals to host tourists; not only is this a great way to travel Cuba on a budget but it also allows you to live in houses and buildings along side a real Cuban family. It gives you a unique perspective and insight into Cuban life. I suggest to spend at least 2 days and you will never forget this experience!
TRINIDAD
Trinidad is a beautiful colonial town and you will love even just walking around it. In the town centre of Trinidad there is a small church with a bell tower (you have to pay a small fee of 3 CUC to get inside the church) and here you can find a museum dedicated to the Cuban revolution on the ground floor. The walk to the top of the bell tower is quite easy, with landings on the way up where you can stop and check the view from small balconies. Once you get to the top, the view is well worth it.
The centre around the main square is entirely pedestrian which makes it even easier to explore without the risk of getting run over by a horse carriage or vintage car.
La Casa de la Musica is a local hub with live music (every night) and where people go to dance salsa and have a drink.
Compared to the rest of the places in Cuba, Trinidad has incredible fresh and tasty food not expensive: I suggest to eat in the lovely Mont y Mar , a restaurant with a rooftop.
CIENFUEGOS
Cienfuegos was formerly a trading port for sugar cane, tobacco and coffee: the historic center of Cienfuegos is UNESCO Heritage certified and within walking distance from the cruise ship port. If you arrange for a private tour, you can meet your guide immediately outside the cruise port gate. It’s very easy to find your guide, as they are clustered together and everyone speaks English, as well as Spanish.
The main square is filled with benches of eager Cubans and a few tourists sucking up the scant wifi signal: the square is surrounded by the headquarters of the Provincial Government, Palacio de Ferrer and the church.
If you have time organize a tour for El Castillo, a small fortress built to keep vicious pirates at bay. There is a boat that leaves Cienfuegos at 8am to cross the bay to reach the castle, we paid $1 CUC, although locals paid a lot less.

CUBA ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR VISITORS
Passport
Travelers to Cuba must present a valid passport. To avoid having to update any travel documents during your stay, make sure your passport is valid for the entirety of your trip (ideally several months longer).
Visa
Tourist visas are also required for all visitors. Entering Cuba without government authorization — your 30-day tourist visa — is illegal, and can result in arrest and serious jail time. If that’s not the kind of wild trip you’re looking for, apply for a visa at the nearest embassy or consulate of Cuba.
Canadian citizens can enter Cuba without a visa if the trip is for tourism purposes, but they must have a visa for any business travel.
Medical Insurance
Vaccinations are not required to enter Cuba, though they are always recommended. An immigration officer will check for proof of medical insurance when you arrive. Cuba does not accept U.S. insurance policies. Make sure you have full coverage during your trip – not just during your time in Cuba.
